Broadband Programs

There are two broadband programs funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009:

· The Distance Learning, Telemedicine and Broadband Program  (DLT)
     o $2.5 Billion, Administered by the Department of Agriculture
· The Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP)
     o $4.7 Billion, Administered by the Commerce Department

The DLT is an on-going program under the USDA’s Rural Development Telecommunications Program that has been greatly expanded under the ARRA.
